Meet Dr. Grishma Shah, PT, DPT, OCS

grishma_PT-12

Grishma Shah is a highly skilled and compassionate physical therapist who brings a unique blend of expertise in both orthopedic and pelvic health. She holds a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy from the esteemed Maharaja Sayajirao University in India and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago. As a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), she specializes in treating a range of conditions including repetitive stress injuries, complex orthopedic injuries, post-operative care following sports-related procedures, and postural abnormalities.

Dr. Shah’s journey into pelvic health began after experiencing firsthand the challenges many women face within the healthcare system, particularly during childbirth. Realizing the lack of awareness and support around pelvic health, she made it her mission to serve women during and beyond the perinatal phase. Today, she integrates her passion for orthopedics with a focus on pelvic health, providing personalized, holistic care for each of her patients.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Shah enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two sons. Her personal interests include practicing yoga, cooking, baking, hiking, and traveling with her family. She is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, staying connected with the latest advancements in physical therapy to provide the best care for her patients.

Your questions, answered.

Finding the right PT is important. We answer some of the most frequently asked questions below.
The physical therapist will review your health history and you will have the opportunity to share the issues that brought you to physical therapy. We will discuss the orthopedic and pelvic floor exam and you can ask questions. We will look at the entire body, including posture, strength, motion. If an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment is appropriate for you, we will discuss it then. We believe in a collaborative treatment model where you participate in your care.

Virginia is a Direct Access state where you can see a physical therapist without a prescription. You should ask your insurance plan if they require a prescription for reimbursement.

We are able to see most orthopedic and pelvic floor issues. To see if we are able to provide expert care for your issue you can send us a message or schedule a free 15-minute telehealth consultation.

Pelvic Pro Physical Therapy is out of network with all insurance plans and is a fee for service provider. Payment is required at the time of service and we accept most credit cards, including flexible spending account (FSA) cards, checks and cash.

We provide clients with a super-bill to submit for reimbursement from their insurance plan. It is the client’s responsibility to determine if they have out-of-network benefits and to learn what is needed to apply for reimbursement.

We have no relationship with Medicare/Medicaid and due to Medicare/Medicaid policies, we cannot enter into a private payment contract with Medicare/Medicaid policyholders.

Testimonials

"Dr. Grishma worked with me during my postpartum phase after a rough delivery, and I was able to fully heal. You often hear that things like hemorrhoids or peeing when you sneeze are permanent after having kids, but she educated me and helped me realize that they don't have to be the new normal. Thanks to her personalized care and guidance, I feel stronger and more in control of my body than ever. I now recommend this clinic—and pelvic floor physical therapy in general—to all the women I know who are pregnant or have recently had kids."

Dr. Shah is absolutely fantastic! As a pregnant woman, Dr. Shah has helped me to gain much more awareness of my pelvic floor and its impact pre and postpartum. The aches and pains of second and third trimester have become substantially minimized with her direction and exercises. I feel much more confident preparing for labor and knowing that I have support post labor to help with healing my body and strengthening all of my muscles that will be used when baby is here! If you are pregnant and weighing the importance of pelvic floor exercises, there is no need to think twice about scheduling an appointment here!

"Recovery from major surgery can be a long road, but I know I’m in good hands with Pelvic Pro. Dr. Grishma is absolutely the BEST, and her philosophy of treating the whole person really gets to the root of the problem. She taught me how to take better care of myself and pay attention to what my body needs—and that is a priceless life lesson we can all use. I cannot recommend her enough!"

After back-to-back pregnancies, I ended up with a severe case of diastasis recti. My doctors and former PTs told me that my condition was irreversible without surgery. Dr. Grishma has not only helped me to reverse this condition, she has helped me to become stronger, more flexible, and pain free in other areas of discomfort. She has so much compassion for her patients and makes sure they get exactly what they need to recover successfully. I am beyond thankful to Dr. Grishma,
SK
